A new catalogue-book to FEEL the soul of Moroso designs

The first catalogue devoted entirely to Moroso furnishings has just been published. This is what Patrizia Moroso, the company's art director, has to say about it:
The idea of this book came from something I'd noticed: in catalogues of sofas or furnishing plans, the smaller articles sometimes run the risk of being just accessories, useful background decorations. Yet these designs are often the ones with the most personality and power because they are "concentrated" into the theme of that object.

They are often the creations I love best and I wanted them to be appreciated for their uniqueness and beauty. I thought that a book of PORTRAITS would make them the protagonists, subjects with a special expressive power.

So I turned to Massimo Gardone, whose beautiful flower "portraits" are a mixture of a meticulous scientific study and a sensitive exploration of their inner spirit. I asked him to do the same with my designs. Massimo photographed them then duplicated, cut up and reassembled the pictures. By exploring inside their form, he brought out the objects' soul and focused attention on their strong personality, making them forever SUBJECTS.

I also spoke to Corinna Cadetto, a young, visionary artist and talented writer, the amazing creator of DRAGOBANANI (revolving graphics in our trade fair space in Milan) who could uniquely interpret the same objects. I asked her to create the words and drawings to accompany Massimo's photos. She, too, approached her work in a special way. Firstly, she prefaced the book with a critique of design and design objects; secondly, she wrote inspired narrations which break in on the visual chronicle to tell stories inspired by the pictures and the book's subjects.

I think the result is brilliant, something that goes beyond the "conventions" of an ordinary catalogue, and it certainly enables you to TOUCH the extraordinary soul of our "objects" and their creators.
